Welcome to YouRCook.com. I am Rachel the creator of this site and the fact that launch day is finally here just after celebrating my 30th birthday is very exciting. I am pleased to share with you what has been cooking these past few months.

I have created a review forum where you can rate a range of ready meals, restaurant cuisine, home made food and also a selection of weight management/loss and sports nutrition products. This serves to help consumers make informed decisions when faced with an assortment of food and nutrition brands and products when out shopping whether online or in store, as well as provide constructive feedback to the meal manufacturers, restaurants, retailers, cooks and chefs.


I hope you will become part of the YouRCooK community by visiting and contributing to the site where you will have access to informative articles about food and written and video reviews about meals as well as being able to engage in topical discussions on the forum.

I am a vegetarian and love food. I eat ready meals as part of a healthy balanced diet as well as plenty of home cooked meals and I eat out occasionally at restaurants. I have consumed a fair few ready meals over the years and some have been utterly delicious, others quite tasty and some very bland. The main benefit that I find from eating ready meals is the element of convenience because they are generally simple and quick to prepare. All I need to do is pop it in the microwave or oven for the specified time stated on the package and then dish it out onto a plate. The information on the packaging tells me exactly what ingredients are in the meal however that is not necessarily the case as we have seen with the horse meat scandal and I will address this issue in a future blog post.

The amount of calories and macronutrients are generally broken down on the package label so that I know the amount of carbohydrates, fats, protein that I am consuming and I quite like the traffic light system which has been implemented by some manufacturers over the recent months. This can help us to be more aware about whether the food we are consuming contains a high quantity of a certain ingredient. Over the upcoming weeks I look forward to discussing the ready meal market in great detail, both the good and the not so good.
